Lady Anne Riding Holiday 2019

A confidence boosting riding holiday to help improve your canter skills

2 days & 1 night £375 - optional extra haf day available

Looking for a holiday which is fun and helps you improve your confidence ? This holiday is a great choice for riders who have mastered walk, trot and canter in the riding school and who now want to enjoy their first trail ride, as well as riders who are returning after a break, or riders who have had a loss of confidence. It's an action packed two and a half days with lots to learn, but you will have great support from us and will be riding with others who have a similar ability as yourself.

On this holiday you will learn how to groom, tack up, build trust and confidence with your horse and each day you will enjoy plenty of supportive, confidence boosting rides all in the spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Everyone will be at the same level, so no one will ever feel out of their depth or fear they are "holding anyone up" ensuring you feel relaxed and positive about your ability. Our horses are very friendly and easy to ride. When cantering they are  happy to stay in a line, they do not race, bolt, rear or buck. On this holiday there will be at least two instructors to provide good support and instruction as and when needed ! Over the two days the canters will build up from being very short and steady to longer and slightly faster ones. As well as canter practice you will learn how to adjust your position to ride confidently up and down hills and through streams. But of course its not all about the riding, the scenery is outstanding and there will be plenty of time to wander peacefully along and take in the views.

Itinerary

This holiday starts at 9am on a Tuesday and finishes at approx 4pm on Wednesday with the option of booking an extra half day ride on Thursday at approx 1pm.

Day 1 ( Tuesday )

Meet at Stonetrail at 9am or choose to book an extra night and arrive the evening before. Meet your fellow riders over a cup of tea and a chance to share one anothers' riding experiences and personal aims for the next two days. Spend a little time getting to know your horse, whilst grooming and tacking up and prepare for a steady and relaxed hour and a half ride on the hill side behind the stables. After lunch, we tack up and head out again for around two hours and enjoy some lovely short easy uphill canters. Return to the stables to untack, groom, feed and turn out your horse.

Evening meals are available at our lovely local inn, The Fat Lamb (we will book a table for the whole group), which has an excellent choice of home cooked food. The Fat Lamb is an easy 10 min walk  or a  two minute drive. Guests staying at Stonetrail receive a 10% discount on their food orders.

Our Horses

We have a super team of well bred horses which are forward gloing, well mannered and easy to ride. Many have been home bred or bought as youngsters and brought on slowly and carefully by ourselves. Our horses love their job, live as a  herd when not being ridden and make perfect companions for our trail riding adventures.

Is this holiday suited to me ?

This ride is suitable for adult riders who can walk, trot and canter in an arena and would now like to improve their overall confidence and skills of cantering and riding out in open countryside. This holiday is an ideal choice if you are planning your first riding holiday and / or you have not ridden for some time and want to be sure you are in the hands of experienced instructors, while riding with others of a similar standard. You do not need any experience of caring for horses; there are lots of opportunities to learn how to groom, tack up and care for your horse each day. Please get in touch if you would like to chat in person and discuss your suitability before making a decision.

Please note our maximum weight limit is 13 stone.

Clothing and Equipment

Riders should be equipped with their own riding hat, approved to current standards, and riding boots. All tack, saddle bags and hi vis are provided by us.

Organisation and Back Up

The Stonetrail team have gained an excellent reputation for putting first the comfort and safety of their riders and horses, as well as providing a well organised ride.  Moving a group of horses and riders successfully over several days, on distances of up to 100 miles whilst maintaining a high standard of care, requires careful planning and experience. Our many years of experience in providing expeditions across Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales have given us a firm foundation of knowledge; we leave nothing to chance and focus on the small details, because we know this makes a difference to your experience. Routes are carefully explored and ridden in advance, rides are fully vehicle-supported, accommodation is visited and Alison speaks personally to every rider at the time of booking to make sure they have chosen the right holiday for their level of ability.
