New for 2013, Stonetrail Riding Centre is offering experienced adult riders the unique opportunity to join them on an adventurous 100 mile linear journey from Kirkby Stephen to Allonby on the West Coast of Cumbria. This holiday includes 6 full days riding and 6 overnight stops at different locations. This is a fully-guided trail ride using Stonetrail’s team of beautiful, well-bred native Cobs, renowned for their strength and good nature, making them an ideal choice to tackle the demands of trail riding. This ride is suited to experienced adult riders who can canter and are happy to ride for up to 6 hours a day.
Day 1
Arrive at Stonetrail Riding Centre and after prepare to set off at 10am for a full days ride to Crosby Garret. Today's route takes us through the Smardale Valley, an area used by GB Endurance for their national ride. The overnight accommodation on this day is in the beautiful village of Ravenstonedale.
Day 2
We leave Crosby Garret and follow the Eden Valley Loop bridleway network across the wide-open grassy fells, where we enjoy some lovely canters. Our overnight stop tonight is at Keld near in Appleby-in-Westmorland, famous for its annual horse fair.
Day 3
Keld to Lake Ullswater including a spectacular route across Loadpot Hill where we can enjoy some exhilerating canters. We spend the night in the historic village of Askham.
Day 4
On day 4 we leave the wide open fells of the Dales behind us and journey into the dramatic scenery of the Lake District fells. Our route today circles the north end of Lake Ullswater using bridlepaths and quiet lanes passing through pretty villages to Dockray where we spend the night, There is choice to enjoy an evening walk to the spectacular Aira Force waterfall.
Day 5
On day 5 we catch our first glimps of the Sea ! Leaving Dockray behind we follow one of the UK's most historic bridleways which provides a real sense of remote adventure and the most fantastic views of Blencathra ( Saddleback ) and Skiddaw. We follow the "Old Coach road" which winds its way through St Johns in the Vale and the valleys at the foot of these famous peaks. We almost forget about the spectacular views of Derwentwater behind as we sense the coastline is in sight and we quickly challange each other to be the first one to see the sea. Our overnight stop is at Keswick.
Day 6
Day 6 is all about gettting to the beach ! Leaving Bassenthwaite we follow a network of bridleways and quiet country lanes before reaching the wide open sands at Allonby, to enjoy a gallop along the beach.
On the evening of day 6, horses and riders will be transported back to Kirkby Stephen for the final night’s accommodation, including a fun evening, prior to departure the following day
Price
£1325 per person including everything except eveing drinks. Price is based upon a twin room.
