Meet the horses of Stonetrail Riding Centre

Please find below photographs of our horses in action, with a brief description. We have chosen to use good quality cob type horses because they are sure-footed and very suited to long-distance riding. They are also fun to ride, sensible and full of character. We take great care of our horses making sure they have a well-balanced workload with plenty of time-out to graze and live naturally as a herd in our 40 acres of hill pasture.

Jack - 15.1

Dales Cob

Years at Stonetrail - 4

I have had Jack since he was 3 years old. He was bred in Cumbria and backed by ourselves. I bought him as a replacement for Conner who is now semi-retired and he is proving to be a great choice. He is one of the calmest and gentle horses I have ever known.

Mckenzie 14.3h

Clydesdale Cross

Years at Stonetrail - since opening in 2007

McKenzie is a real character ! He has been with me at Stonetrail since I opened so he knows a thing or two ! He is a very versatile horse, ideal for both novice or experienced riders.

Thoroughbred Cob Cross

Gemma has a lovely personality out on rides and  is always willing to please her rider. She is gentle and steady, therefore ideal for novice riders, but just as suited to more experienced riders.Gemma recently had her '15 minutes of fame', when Martin Clunes rode her at the official opening on the Pennine Bridlewayhorse.

Welsh Section C

Tom is a brilliant pony, he is always ready to go for a ride and is willing when out. He is suitable for both novice and experienced riders.

Conner is a gentle giant, he is almost 20 years old but is always willing to lead a ride. He is forward going and confident.

Dales Cross

Posh is one of our excellent lead horses, she is always forward going and willing.

Welsh Sec D

Maisey is our very own dressage star, she recently won her first Intro Dressage Test with 68%. She is only 5 but showing great potential both in and out of the show ring.
