Self-Guided Holidays with your Horse

Enjoy superb hacking & luxury self-catering in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

4 night mid week break £240 per person

If you enjoy the freedom of riding without a guide but with the help of easy to follow maps then our self-  guided horse holidays are perfect for you.  Our self-guided holidays offer a great choice of safe off-road routes, well organised  livery facilities and a choice of five luxury, self-catering cottages which overlook the stables and paddocks.

We have been welcoming horses on holiday for over 10 years and can assure you of a warm welcome and a well-organised yard with everything you need to enjoy some special time with your horse. We are a 'BHS Horses Welcome' establishment and many of our customers return year after year. Our location is a horse rider's dream. We have stunning scenery, an extensive bridleway network and, because the area is still relatively unknown, you can ride for miles and hardly see a soul. Peace and quiet is hard to find in today’s world but that’s exactly what you will find here at Street Farm. Our gate leads directly onto the fellside, with a choice of safe, off-road routes in each direction. Within minutes you can join the Pennine Bridleway and close-by we have the Eden Valley Loop bridleways. We have short routes, long routes, flatter routes and wilder routes, where you can ride along the top of the fells. There are routes with pubs and routes with the beautiful picnic stops by rivers, or even next to a ruined castle. We have routes with wonderful long canters across along green lanes and wide open commons. Roadwork is minimal and only involves quiet lanes, mostly unfenced and with little traffic. We have an excellent knowledge of all the trails in our area and will try and help you decide which route may suit your ability.

Stonetrail Riding Centre is based at Street Farm and both are owned and run by Alison & Colin Muir. The riding centre specialises exclusively in riding holidays and horse holidays. Over the last 12 years, we have organised trail riding holidays, using our own horses, across Cumbria and The Yorkshire Dales, gaining an expert knowldege of all the local tracks and trails, which we are happy to share with you to help plan your routes.

We offer a choice of self-guided holidays as well Horse Camps where you can meet new horsey friends and enjoy a guided ride each day. Please click here to read more about our Horse Camps

Livery Facilities

Our livery facilities have been designed to provide horses on holiday with a warm welcome and a well-organised environment to keep them safe and happy on their holiday.

Our holidays are DIY Livery, but our yard is staffed daily and the owners Alison & Colin live on site, so help is always on hand.

Access for trailers and boxes is easy, with a wide, unfenced drive and plenty of parking. We will meet you on arrival and focus on your horses first, making sure they are safely unloaded and turned out in their paddock or stables, as you wish.

We have several post and rail paddocks, which have mains-fed water troughs. The paddocks are next to the stables and in view of the cottages. Our paddocks are designed for up to four horses each, you can choose how many paddocks you require at the time of booking. At night, you can choose to leave your horse out in the paddock, or you can bring them in, the choice is yours. We ask that you poo-pick your own paddock before leaving; wheel-barrows and tools provided.

We have indoor stables with rubber mats and one outdoor stable. The livery charge includes your own stable. We have a total of six stables. Groups who have more than six horses can opt for grazing only. Bedding is available, if required, at an additional cost of £10 per bag.

We have a secure tack room, drying room and a hot/cold horse shower. Water buckets and mucking-out tools are provided.

On your day of departure, check-out time from the yard is 12 noon.
